Executive Protection

Executive protection, built around the principal.

Close protection for executives, principals, VIPs, and their families, armed or unarmed.

Executive protection is close personal security for people whose role, wealth, or public profile raises their risk. TB Defense provides executive protection for corporate leaders, public figures, VIPs, and families across Chicago and the country, led by a Chicago Police officer with 20 years of service. We assess the threat first, then build the detail to match it: armed or unarmed, a single agent or a full team, for one engagement or an ongoing assignment.

What it includes

  • A threat assessment that shapes the detail, rather than a one-size template
  • Advance work on venues, routes, and arrivals before the principal moves
  • Single-agent coverage through to a full protective detail
  • VIP and celebrity protection for clients with an elevated profile
  • Armed or unarmed agents, all properly licensed under Illinois law
  • Coordination with venue security, building staff, and law enforcement as needed
  • After-action reporting when the engagement calls for a record

How it works

We start with a confidential consultation to understand the principal, the exposure, and the routine. We build a protective plan sized to the real risk. Then we deploy agents who fit the environment, because a protective presence at a board dinner looks nothing like one at a public appearance.

Who it is for

Executives, board members, public figures, and families who need protection that is competent and low-profile, not theatrical.

Common questions

Is executive protection armed or unarmed?

Either. We recommend armed or unarmed coverage based on the threat assessment, and all agents are licensed for the role they hold under Illinois law.

Do you protect families as well as the executive?

Yes. Family coverage, including residences and travel, is a common part of an executive protection program.

Who do you provide executive protection for?

Corporate executives and board members, celebrities and entertainers, musicians on tour, public figures and politicians, and high-net-worth individuals and their families. The detail is built around the principal and the specific exposure, not a fixed template.

Do you provide executive protection outside Illinois or internationally?

Yes. We are based in Chicago and licensed in Illinois, and we support assignments across the country and internationally through vetted partners and trusted local resources, with TB Defense coordinating the detail.

What does it mean when an agent does an advance?

An advance is the work done before the principal arrives. An agent visits the venue, route, or location ahead of time to map entrances and exits, identify choke points and safe areas, coordinate with on-site staff and parking, and plan for the unexpected. Most of what keeps a detail smooth is decided during the advance, not in the moment.

Can executive protection be a tax-advantaged benefit for a company?

Often, yes. Under Section 132 of the Internal Revenue Code and Treasury Regulation 1.132-5(m), when a company provides protection because of a bona fide business-oriented security concern, usually established by an independent security study, the cost can be treated as a working condition fringe benefit rather than taxable income to the executive. The independent assessment is part of what supports that treatment. This is not tax advice; confirm the specifics with your tax advisor.
